GAME MANUAL

INTRODUCTION

Pithos is an educational trivia board game for two to six players. In Pithos, each player scores points by identifying the supernatural, and at the same time try to survive long enough to finish the game.

COMPONENTS

GAME BOARD
The game board consists of seven colored circles that represent portals that lead to different places. They carry out the events of the game and how it will be played. Landing on any portal (except the white one) means that the player will need to answer a trivia question.

The portals are:
  • Safe Space (white, center)
The Safe Space is the only portal that all the others can connect to. If the player decides to land on this part of the board, they take a pass and will not answer trivia.
  • Japan Portal (red)
  • Philippines Portal (yellow)
  • Greece Portal (blue)
  • Egypt Portal (orange)
  • Europe Portal (green)
  • Israel Portal (brown)
  • Worldwide Portal (purple)

PLAYER PIECES
There are six (6) player pieces that represent a specific character.

The characters are:

  • MIiko Miyamoto (priestess)
  • Amihan delos Santos (witch)
  • Althea Giannopolous (oracle)
  • Kristoffer Olvenderson (warlock)
  • Herkheba Mubarak (embalmer)
  • Dijon Zilka (healer)

TRIVIA CARDS
Each deck is color-coded and marked to match each circle of the board (except the Safe Space). When it is drawn, the player who is in turn must answer what is asked correctly. Each answered question is worth ten (10) points.

ABILITY CARDS
These are cards can be exchanged for points that players have acquired. They can be either used to help eliminate other players from the game or help a player survive from their opponent’s attacks. Their prices can be seen at the bottom of the card.
  • ASK A FRIEND
Will you share delicious victory or drag someone down with your failure? This card allows players to get advice from their opponents; if they both can’t give the right answer, they both lose Life Cards. However, if they solve it together just right, they each take 5 points.
  • DEFEND
Having this card protects players from ALL attacks directed at them. It can only be used once.
  • STEAL
Take someone else's Life Card as your own.

LIFE CARDS
These cards are given to players at the start of the game. If a player loses all of these cards, they can no longer play.

SETUP
Give each player 5 LIFE cards. Shuffle the trivia cards and organize them by color. Place each colored deck face down on the board next to their corresponding circles.

Decide who the first player will be, then let the sequence of play proceed clockwise. Place used cards in a discard pile by color and type.

PLAYING THE GAME

Players can only move their pieces through one portal on each turn. They also have the freedom of moving across the board in any way they want as long as there are lines connecting the portals to one another. If the deck for a portal has run out, then players can skip staying there and go directly to the one across.

To gain points in the game, players must answer questions on the Trivia Cards. Players who are not answering at the moment will read the question aloud. There can be three chances before resulting in a loss, with the exception of multiple-choice where only one chance is given.

Ability Cards can be bought at any time of the game and can only be used at the player’s turn.

GAME END

There are two ways a player can win:

· GLORY- By achieving the first 100 points, a player is already a winner. The game can keep continuing if desired.

· LONE SURVIVOR- If there is only one player with all their Life Cards intact, he/she wins by default and the game ends.
